SELAB Silicone Seat Covers: When the Saddle Finally Holds the Way You Need It To

Potahy SELAB

Steep climbs, broken descents over roots, braking on loose rocks… At that moment, you don't want to deal with your bike sliding out from under you. SELAB Silicone Grip Cover silicone seat covers are the solution for riders who want maximum control over their bike in any terrain and a cover that lasts.

Why bother with a seat cover?

Most riders tune their tires, mousse, suspension, or brakes. The seat often remains "stock," even though you spend most of your time on it. Yet, seat grip has a huge impact on:

  • Confidence on steep climbs – you don't slide back and don't have to pull on the handlebars as much,
  • Stability during downhill braking – you don't end up 20 cm further back than you intended,
  • Fatigue in your arms and legs – when the seat holds you, you don't have to "hang" solely from your hands and knees.

Classic covers (even "race" ones) are usually just rougher textile or rubber. SELAB takes a different approach, using high-quality silicone, which offers a different level of grip, durability, and comfort.

What Makes SELAB Seat Covers Exceptional

The SELAB Silicone Grip Cover is an original Swedish seat cover designed specifically for motocross and enduro. Thanks to its material and pattern, it offers several key advantages:

  • Maximum Grip – You won't slip even in mud, rain, or during aggressive riding.
  • Waterproof and Easy to Clean – Mud and water won't get into the seat foam; just rinse the surface.
  • Extreme Durability – Silicone doesn't crack or tear and retains its properties even after several seasons.
  • Easy Installation – Universal dimensions, the cover fits all MX and enduro bikes.
  • Gentle on Pants – High grip, but no crushing or rapid wear of your pants.

From the rider's perspective, this means more control and less fatigue. At a critical point, you're simply dealing with the trail, not trying to stay in the saddle.

1) SELAB Standard – thickest grip for universal use

SELAB Standard is the cover with the thickest pattern – small "spikes" across the entire surface. It offers the best balance between brutal grip and comfort on longer rides.

  • The thickest pattern – great grip when exiting and braking.
  • Dimensions: 880 × 390 mm.
  • Ideal for hobby enduro, hard enduro and MXwhere you want your butt "locked" in the saddle.

2) SELAB MUD Edition – For Mud and Extreme Conditions

The MUD Edition is developed mainly for muddy and extreme conditions. The surface is smoother than the Standard version, but complemented by prominent rectangular panels (ribs) that will support you where you need it most.

  • Pattern tuned for mud and difficult terrain – a thin, flexible cover with ribs for extra grip.
  • Dimensions: 900 × 440 mm – can handle taller or wider seats.
  • Available in single-color and two-color (MUD Multicolor) variants to match your bike.

3) SELAB Smooth – Smooth, but still with High Friction

The Smooth version appears to be a "smooth" cover at first glance, but don't be fooled, the silicone still has high friction. This version is great for riders who need to move more on the seat forwards and backwards (typically MX) and don't want to be too "stuck".

  • Smooth to the touch, high grip for riding – an ideal combination for technical and fast riding.
  • Dimensions: 820 × 340 mm.
  • Suitable for motocross, fast enduro, and long transfers where you need to move your body a lot.

Installation: You can do it in the garage too

Are you wondering if installing a silicone seat cover is rocket science? Good news, if you've ever removed/installed a seat or seat cover, you can handle it with SELAB. The cover has universal dimensions and fits all MX and enduro bikes.

  1. Remove the seat from the bike and take off the original cover (usually just a few staples).
  2. Place the SELAB on the seat, align the pattern, and gradually stretch it into the desired shape.
  3. From the underside of the seat, attach the cover with a stapler (ideally a quality upholstery stapler).
  4. Cut off any excess material and put the seat back on the motorcycle.

If you don't dare to do it yourself, any decent service center or upholsterer can staple it for you, but most riders can handle it at home without any problems.
