You know it. You're riding slowly through technical terrain, with wet roots under you, slippery rocks everywhere, mud on top of it all, and you need one thing: for the rear wheel to grip and not let go. It's precisely for these moments that the new X-GRIP King Kong Sticky, a rear hard enduro tire with a very soft "sticky" compound, is here to deliver maximum traction.
Like this... according to the people around X-GRIP, this isn't a tire for "leisurely rides". Tough terrain is key, and this tire is a tool that will let you ride instead of push. Tough terrain is key, and this tire is a tool that will let you ride instead of push.
What makes the KING KONG STICKY tire interesting?
1) Sticky Compound = Soft and Grippy
The main point is the compound, extra soft and grippy, so it can bite where other rubbers just spin out. Ideal for wet roots and slippery rocks, typically in slow and tough technical sections.
2) Tread Pattern and Line Holding
The King Kong Sticky features a distinctive V-shaped arrangement of knobs, which is designed to aid traction and control. Additionally, there's a central guide groove to support more stable line holding, preventing the rear from getting nervous when the surface changes.
3) More Open Tread Pattern = Better Self-Cleaning
Hard enduro without self-cleaning is hell. Here, X-GRIP relies on a more open tread pattern to help the tire shed mud and loose debris faster. And that's precisely when you're riding slowly and don't have the 'speed to clean'.
Where this tire will make the most sense
If you ride terrains like:
- Roots, riverbeds,
- Slippery rocks,
- Soft ground and steep climbs, this is exactly where it's aimed.
- Erzbergrodeo, Romaniacs etc., i.e. places where traction and control are the main focus.
Why you might enjoy it (and why you should try it)
If you enjoy technology and are looking for a shot at things that others miss, Sticky makes sense. Soft sticky compound + hard enduro tread, it's not about marketing anymore.
